If you’re participating in Memphis Adventure Boot Camp, your workouts are only half the equation. What you eat between sessions determines whether you see dramatic results or just spin your wheels.

The ABC Nutrition Principles
A — Adequate Protein at Every Meal
Protein is the foundation. It repairs your muscles after boot camp sessions, keeps you full between meals, and supports fat loss by maintaining lean muscle mass.
Aim for: A palm-sized portion of protein at every meal. Chicken, fish, eggs, lean beef, Greek yogurt, or protein shakes.
B — Build Your Plate Around Vegetables
Vegetables provide nutrients, fiber, and volume without adding significant calories. They keep you satisfied and support recovery.
The rule: Fill half your plate with vegetables at lunch and dinner. Spinach, broccoli, bell peppers, green beans, asparagus — the more variety, the better.
C — Control Your Carbs and Portions
Carbs aren’t the enemy, but uncontrolled portions are. Focus on earning your carbs through training and timing them around your workouts.
Practical approach: Eat your starchy carbs (rice, potatoes, oats, fruit) around your boot camp sessions. Keep other meals focused on protein, vegetables, and healthy fats.
Boot Camp Nutrition Mistakes to Avoid
- Not eating enough. Under-eating kills your energy and stalls results. Boot camp is intense — fuel accordingly.
- Rewarding workouts with junk food. “I earned this pizza” thinking erases the calorie deficit you just created.
- Skipping breakfast before morning sessions. At minimum, have a banana or a small protein shake.
- Ignoring water. Outdoor boot camp in Memphis heat demands serious hydration. Drink before, during, and after.
